After setting out controls in a thunderstorm last night we are good to go! The forecast is looking ok, but it is quite prickly and slippery out there, so I recommend grippy shoes and full leg cover.

Great to have people requesting maps, but if you haven't don't worry, we will be printing a good pile!

Yo ho ho! There are people booking maps already by sending an email christmas.rogaine@gmail.com.

Please do so if you are planning to come as it does help us to work out numbers for map printing and catering.

Another piece of exciting cake is that we are now called the "Bivouac Christmas Rogaine" and have Bivouac supporting the event with some great spot prizes and Bivouac vouchers!!

So pop into Bivouac if you think there is anything you need pre rogaine and tell them you are going to chase Santa in the bush next Thursday night (-:

Looking forward to the adventure...Chris is still recovering in Costa Rica after the World Adventure Race Champs at the moment, but he will be back in time to do some great trail cutting for us!

Place: Omahu Bush Reserve, accessed off Rhodes Road (see map) - go past the Raspberry Cafe and keep going up the valley. Follow the signs to the Horse riding Centre in Otahuna Valley.

Kids under 12 years rogaine free
Plus $5 for parking - this is a token for the farmer who has very kindly given us access to his land again. Car pool or ride a bike to save $$$ and the dolphins (-:

Ho Ho Another RoGaine Christmas 2013!

Ho Ho Ho! It's time to get ready for Em and Chris's annual 3 hour rogaine event, the 'Christmas Twilight Rogaine'. 

Once again we will use the base of the Otahuna Valley for our start and finish area. The rogaine will take place on Thursday 19th December, starting at 6pm and finishing at 9pm. There will be some yummy Christmas goodies and a wee prizegiving at the finish.

Gibraltar Rock is open again this year, meaning there will be some new areas to explore. The terrain includes lovely native bush (which you may have to do a little bush bashing through), as well as open tussock lands, farm paddocks, gorse bushes, scenic views etc. You will love it!

Final Details

• Directions: Look at the map. Drive out towards Tai Tap on the Old Tai Tap road, then turn down Rhodes Road (which Raspberry cafe is on - but don't get lured in by cake). Keep going up the valley until you get to the Horseriding school, where you make two left turns. We will signpost these.
• Cost: You need to have $5 per car in cash for parking. Entry fee is $20 for adults/ $15 students/ Free for under 12 years.
• Bring: a wee pack to carry water/ a jersey or a jacket/ a compass / snack. There is also lots of Onga Onga, bush lawyer, gorse, so we recommend full body cover. Forecast is delicious.
• Bring a pen/pencil to mark your route and write down stuff as some controls are cryptic
• Even if you haven't emailed feel free to come/ bring friends...we will print plenty of maps. We have 100 people pre-entered.
• Times: Registration from 5:00 onwards, Quick Briefing at 6:00, START 6:15 - FINISH 8:45 Food and party 8:45 - 9:15
• It's gonna be a FANTASTIC evening!!!!!
